nomdeplume
Hi, I bought my son a Thomas Hornby set for Christmas, along with a few track extension packs, and after a few days of fun, the engine now just seems to rev (whatever speed) and barely moves. He'll move a few centimetres with a push, and then just go back to revving. Any advice is gratefully recceived on how to get him moving again! RB51
Hi NDP - sounds as though the gears are not meshing. I'm not familiar with the loco but can you get the body shell off and see if the motor pinion is connecting with the gear on the axle. R-
2e0dtoeric
Are the wheels turning, but the train doesn't moveor is the motor whizzing, but the wheels don't turn.If the second - either the gear has come off the motor shaft, or the motor has been dislodged from it's seating. If the first, does the engine move on it's own?If it does, then one or more of the wheels on the trucks are jammed. Are you running Thomas on the carpet, or on a clean hard surface (under the track!)If it is nothing obvious (fluff) take the whole lot back to where you bought it, for repair or replacement. If on the carpet, you have probably got carpet fluff and muck in the mechanism. 2e0dtoeric
Duplicate post! See my reply in the 'General' thread. As the set is new, do NOT take it to bits, that will void the guarantee. Take it back to the shop.

It's running on track pinned to MDF so I'm pretty sure it's not fluff. I shall try looking at the motor shaft and report back. Many thanks
trainlover23
This should be in the General Section not hidden away in ther Thomas Section. Anyway it sounds like a stripped gear and it will have to go back to Hornby for repair
RB51
Why so TL23? At the moment it seems to be an issue relative to Thomas The Tank Engine. If it turns out to be a broader issue then we can move it later. R-

Fishmanoz
Good heavens, how do they expect to be misinterpreted when they make things as clear as that?
olly
Is the Thomas new ? .If it is it would be best to send it back to the retailer or Hornby for repair or replacement. It sounds like the gears not right and probably damaged
