switching two different signals with the same decoder

Recommended Posts

This may have been a topic before but I couldn't find it, not in the guide nor here on the forum. I want to switch two different signals (two-aspect, just red and green) at the same time and with the same decoder by giving them the same number, just as one would do for points. However, I have noticed on my lay-out that clicking the one signal has no effect on the other. This is rather different from points, where one can click either point to see the effect. I have not yet tried this with the signals in place, since I still need to install the second signal. It may be, that the signals in reality do switch together. However, virtually I am either doing something wrong or it can't be done. Can anyone enlighten me?

Hi Peter,

So what you are saying is that when you click on one of the signal icons on the layout diagram, that icon changes but the icon for the other signal with the same address does not change? If so, then I think you may have found a bug which needs to be reported through the built-in help system. I think, when you install the second signal, that both actual signals will respond correctly to a click on either icon.

i have installed two dapol semaphore signals to govern the approach to a single track via a point.  i have cheated by using one traintec decoder output to power both signals  and both the signals and point have the same decoder number.  the set up worked but unfortunately one or other of the points has a tendency to lose synchronisation.  This may be because i am asking too much of the power supply to power three items simultaneously.  however the important point is that it did work when initiatives set up.
