dynax
Having revived my vista laptop and replaced to os to Linux Ubuntu, i thought i would try and install railmaster on it, i downloaded the current version but when i install it, it won't register, it's no big issue as my dedicated RM machine is on my Dell running XP, i just wondered if anyone has successfully installed and running under Linux, cheers,
Fishmanoz
Forgive my ignorance but, as RM will only run on Windows, can I take it that Ubuntu emulates Windows? Cncerning registration, can I take it that you have a licence, either new or deactivated if previously used, that you are now trying to activate without success? In any case, I think more info is needed from you to help us solve your problem.
dynax
Hi Fishy, Ubuntu is a linux based operating system, the problem although not a problem as i don't need it, is that using WINE which is not an emulator as such but is capable of running some windows programs, but with Railmaster during the install process some files need to go into the system registry, but wine doesn't support this, the other way would be to run virtualbox with a windows os installed in that, but as i already have a dedicated pc with a licensed copy of RM installed on it, there is no point in using virtualbox, i was only wondering if anyone had found a way to use RM in WNE, I have only been using Linux Ubuntu for a few days, so i am a novice in using this operating system, but although some areas are tricky to understand i have found it a great system to use,
Fishmanoz
Thanks for the clarification dynax. I'm not a Linux user so we will have to wait to see if someone is and has tried it.
