WilliamDavid
I have just fitted a TTS decoder to my Golden Eagle A4, and decided to use a Sugarcube speaker discussed elsewhere.I find the sound way better than with the 28mm speaker supplied, but had to remove the tender weight to get it in.Can anyone tell me the purpose of this weight other than as a clamp for the round speaker?I had an A3 professionly fitted with a Howes decoder, and this weight was discarded then. Howbi
The purpose of the weight is to make the tender heavier so it is more stable on the track especially when pulling carriages and also gives a bit better contact for the wheels on the rails for electrical conductivity.........HB
WilliamDavid
Although both locos seem to be running fine, I may consider adding some weight where I can. Some TTS locos I have do not have this weight (Flying Scotsman and Gadwell), the speakers being fitted differently to others. 96RAF
Some tenders have a metal chassis whereas others have a much lighter plastic chassis and additional weight, some have both the metal chassis and a weight.
KNAP
I try to fit Sugarcubes if possible and would be useful if manufactures allowed room to fit these. D J Models are providing both wiring and space fo a sugar cube speaker installtion.
