Chrissaf Posted January 16, 2017 Share Posted January 16, 2017 Late Arrival....welcome to the forum. I assume that by DCC Program you mean RailMaster?.As HB has just said. You don't need the RailMaster CD to install RailMaster. You can download the RailMaster application installer from the RailMaster support site over the Internet using your browser. The link to the file is on this forum at the top of the RailMaster & TrackMaster section..Download the file from the link and save it to your Laptop folder of choice. The file is named rm_setup.exe be sure to right click the file and choose 'run as administrator' if you are installing it for the first time on Windows 7 or above (this is important, you will likely experience problems with the application operation if you do not)..Next......systematically follow through the guidance given in the locked topic thread just below the download link titled "RailMaster: Installing & Getting Started.". Pay particular attention to the sections in this locked thread relating to COM ports and .INI file entries. Again, if you do not follow or ignore these documented instructions you will likely experience problems. To invoke the RailMaster .INI file editor, use the 'COG' icon located in the bottom left hand corner of the RailMaster 'Help' Window..Also, when the RailMaster application is installed, the installer will put certain user guide manuals on the laptop Desktop. It is important to follow the guidance for your version of windows in the "Security.PDF" document with regard to setting up RailMaster exceptions in your Laptop Windows Firewall and Anti-virus. In most cases, the RailMaster installer will make the necessary anti-virus exceptions for you, so if you see ANY popups during the RailMaster installation relating to anti-virus and firewalls, be sure to accept the options offered to you to allow RailMaster to modify AV settings. Failure to do this will result in you experiencing operational RailMaster problems..You haven't told us two things. What controller you are going to use (eLink or Elite) and what version of Windows..If you are using Windows 7, 8 or 10. Use 'plug n play' to install your controller driver first BEFORE running the RailMaster installer. There are two stages to installing the controller driver. The first 'plug n play' stage should result in having the following entry in your Device Manager com port section "CDC RS-232 Emulation Demo"..Once you can see that entry listed, you need to select it (right click menu) then manually initiate the second part of the driver installation. Its all described in the "Drivers.PDF" document placed on your Desktop by the RailMaster installer. Note: that Windows 7 and above can use the generic USB Serial Com port driver from the Microsoft Windows Driver repository (use the 'Let Windows search for driver' option to find it, instead of the 'browse to the RailMaster Driver folder' option..Once installed, and initially tested to prove reliable communication is working with your controller, then you can activate RailMaster over the Internet using the Activation Key printed on the CD packaging. Keep the CD safe purely for the recording of the CD Key for back-up. You do not need the physical CD itself for any other reason. Also, keep a record of the other data you enter as part of the activation process, such as name, address and email. If at some future point in time you need to request your RailMaster key to be manually reset on the servers, this information must match what you originally entered.
