With the new tool 1/48 Mustang due soon, lets go back and have a look at its smaller brother.

Again another great kit, with no fit issues and good surface detail. The only minor problem was the mass balances on the elevators not being properly defined. Only one set of markings are provided, but they are for the famous "Red Tails", made up entirely of African Americans.

The natural metal finish on this one was hand painted using Humbrol enamels.

I don't usually include pilot figures, but as the pilots and Ground crews was basically the main reason of the unit being in existence I decided to make an exception.

If you haven't had a chance to build this one yet, it's been re-released as a blue noser, so get it, you won't be disappointed.

There's a film about the Red Tail's, acually two films the newer one is full of CGI and the plot is a bit like the Pearl Harbour film ( Leaves a bit to be desired ) but if you can fin the older one made in the 80's or 90's it's much better, and gives a more acurate portrail of them especially the US training & how they came into being.

Very nice little model, thanks for showing it, Remember building the original realease way back in the 60's I think it had over 40 parts & in those days for a WW2 fighter that was a lot.

Remember we do this for fun                     John the Pom
