It is beside open water given the sailing boats to the left and in hill country given the aspect on the right of PP's picture.

 

Crystal ball time - viewing the full picture this is definitely it. I have cropped the picture a little and amended the file details to avoid spoiling the hunt. Credit to the picture owner.

Dartmouth Station was built by the GWR.

 

It is on the other side of the River Dart from Kingswear Station (Now a steam railway to Paignton. Paignton & Dartmouth Railway. Once the Torbay Steam Railway I think...))

 

You could by tickets to anywhere via the GWR from here....but you had to board a Ferry Boat to reach the Trains...

 

It only "saw" trains on th eother side of the river....mainly the smoke and steam I would think!  😉
