Class 08
Is the hornby sapphire decoder a 21 pin decoder? Or do I still need an 8 pin decoder to go with it? I've seen a class 37 which is a 21 pin, but as I only have a select controller at the moment, another brand decoder won't work.
Chrissaf
Yes the Sapphire decoder is a 21 pin decoder complying with the NMRA MTC21 standard. When brand new, the Hornby Sapphire ships with a 21 pin to 8 pin adapter harness to allow it to be fitted to Hornby NMRA NEM652 8 pin sockets..but as I only have a select controller at the moment, another brand decoder won't work..Granted, the Select controller can be problematic with SOME non Hornby decoders, but not all.
