Coupling issue

Hi,

I recently purchased the Hornby class 60 Drax (R3479) and the biomass hopper Drax (R6723). After the first run on the track, an issue immediately occured. After a few minutes, I diagnosed the problem. I found out that the two couplings were of different heights (image below). Is there a way to rectify this by buying different couplings or something like that.

Many thanks,

Hi,

Recently I purchased the Hornby class 60 in Drax livery (R3479) and the drax livery hopper wagon (R6723). Immediately, after a few laps, there was an issue with the pair. They kept on becoming uncoupled. After  a few minutes I realised the couplings were a different height. This was clearly the issue after a number of other runs. Does anyone know if this could be rectified by buying a new kind of coupling or something like this and has anyone else had a similar issue like this?

Many thanks,

Jack

I have no experience of you particular models but Are the two both fitted with NEM pockets?

If yes some the NEM pocket is held in place by a small dovetail arangement that pushes up from the underside of the wagon. In the case of two wagons, I have found that the pocket is not as tighter fit as it should be. As a result some have drooped a littel. If this is the case just push back up.

If this keeps happening a little amount of glue might be needed. A tiny amount applied inside the dovetail socket with a pin is all that was needed with mine

A sliver of thin 'Plasticard' slipped into the base of the NEM pocket on the wagon as a packing piece should, in theory, lift the coupling up to the horizontal. That is, if the NEM pocket itself is horizontal and not drooping because it is loose.
