2018 predictions

I know this is too early, way too early, but I would like people's thoughts on what they believe could possibly be released in 2018 for the Thomas range by Hornby.

For me,

Locomotives: Toby and/or Emily.

Rolling stock: Reintroduction (again!) Of Milk Tanker, oil tanker, and fuel tanker. A brake van, Emily's coaches.

Also, I wonder why Hornby soon discontinued their old slow coach and triple packs from their 2015 range.

What about a chance of Hornby announcing some new piste me for this year? Hornby announced the 2015 range in the April of that year, so maybe they will, this year. My predictions:

Locomotives:

Arthur

Stanley

Ryan

Freight Rolling Stock:

Green Open Wagon

CGI Tidmouth Milk Tanker

CGI Sodor Fuel Tanker

CGI Oil Tanker

CGI Cream Tanker

CGI Water Tanker

If anything, I would guess at Toby, Duck and Diesel for loco reintroductions.  Oliver and Toad would be nice, but I wonder whether Hornby have missed a trick there now Bachmann have released their own versions.

In terms of rolling stock the breakdown crane seems to be a re-occuring product, having had at least three guises thus far, which might resurface again alongside the works van.  If the tankers emerge again I hope they retain the traditional "Sodor Mail", "Milk" etc on the side rather than the pictographics from the CGI series.

As much as I would like to see new characters or stock introduced I feel that is somewhat unlikely in light of Hornby's range reductions and slow progress back towards profitability.  The only exception might be Donald and Douglas which if planned carefully could allow multiple products from one CAD/tooling - two Thomas characters and a Railroad range product.

It would be nice to see Hornby produce the tankers with the CGI logos on.

It would also be nice to see Donald and Douglas get released by Hornby too! I can't believe that Hornby have never engine's number 1 - 11 before!  😆
