choralc
I know it's Bachmann (Hornby only having the Ivatt mogul) but has anyone with a 2004 onwards DCC ready Crab fitted a decoder to it? There is so little space I am canvassing what modellers chose.
trainlover23
It is 21 pin decoder I think so you aon`t got a lot of choice
Howbi
@Choralc........I have LMS Crab 13000, Crimson Lake, 32-181 and fitted it with the Bach 36-553 8 pin decoder no problem.........the Hornby R8249 is smaller so even easier to install.........HB
sbroger
I have a Bachmann(32-178) 'Crab' in LMS black livery '2715' & fitted a Hornby R8249 8-pin decoder successfully.Roger.
choralc
Thank you everyone. I will see what I have left over in the tool station. T-L it is an 8-pin so I'm glad a regualr decoder will fit without me having a hissy fit.
choralc
One more thing. Those who have fitted the R8249 where did you place the decoder and route the wires. Any hints appreciated as my tremors are a little on the bad side today.
Fishmanoz
Tremors CS, hope they aren't too bad, don't want you ending up down in Cairns without the use of the car or the train!
Howbi
The decoder tucks into the boiler space just below the chimney with the wiring folded in loop within the space.....HB
choralc
Thank you HBM that's very clear so even I should be able to duplicate it!
choralc
Thank you all. The only decoder I had was a ZEN 6-pin with an 8-pin adapter lead. After doubling the leads up the small decoder squeezed in nicely when the body was put back on and the loco was added the the RailMaster roster and run in. Fishmanoz
Can't find a Rankin St in Cairns or surrounds. Can find one in Bathurst NSW with an art gallery nearby? Oops, found it, Mareeba, and a gallery just around the corner. Wonderful things Apple Maps.
choralc
Oh yes HBM I know where that is but as part of my Health Plan it is verboten although I've refused to give up a rum flavoured Coke as an almost daily medicine. It's medicinal for the tremors, don't you know!
