michael_winstanley
Has anyone an original Railroad R2675 Flying Scotsman? I have been under the impression that on release in 2008 it had gold relief lettering until Hornby replaced it with the Railroad R3086 with plain yellow lettering. I thought I'd check with eBay but a number of sellers are currently selling both versions as R2675. I guess that some models are in wrong boxes. The catalogues for the R2675 (54-57) show a Class 3 (when the model is a Class 1) with relief lettering but I know that they can be wrong sometimes. I want to purchase one but not want to pay £100 plus and end up with an R3086 which you can pick up for £50 ish.Your help would be appreciated. NWR-Gordon-4
To be honest with you, I didn't know two standard Flying Scotsman's haver ever appeared in Hornby's RailRoad range. I just done a Google search on those two product numbers. The only difference I can see, is that the R3086 Flying Scotsman is DCC Ready and the R2675 Flying Scotsman dosen't. It looks like the R3086 Flying Scotsman has a much newer tooiling, than the R2675 Flying Scotsman has.
michael_winstanley
Thankyou Jacob. What started this question for me was the Hornby catalogues. For the 4 years that R2675 was available they show a 'standard' Flying Scotsman without DCC ready. R3086 hadn't been released. But within the Rairoad section you catch glimpses of an R3086 in some pictures of layout set-ups with the R3086 livery we know today. You're most likely right - that the only difference is the DCC Ready part and for some reason for 4 years they used the wrong picture as R2675. Which brings me to my next query - which standard model FS are they showing as R2675 I wonder? My quest goes on. Thanks again for your time. new lad on block
Hi Michael,Checked both of my flying scotsman. Both are from the Railroad range. Both available in Trainsets. Both A1 round domes, corridor tenders./media/tinymce_upload/c7bd7a4d62820d5c8f4e022cc611fc64.JPG/media/tinymce_upload/51a3b84a91e884580cea1d535ce0487d.JPGThe R2675 seems the better of the two. That one has sprung buffers, and a electrical connection from tender to loco.R3086 has only a drawbar connection. Both are thougth loco drive.Motion gear on the R3086 seems slightly finer.According to Ramsay's guide R2675 was made from 2007 to 2011.R3086 was redesigned to make it cheaper to produce. That one is made from 2012 to 2015.Top photo,R3086 is the one out of the inner poly tray. WilliamDavid
If you get the one with plain lettering, you easily apply the correct style pressfix decals.I've done this on the Flying Scotsman, P2 and Gadwall. Well worth it.

It looks like Hornby discontinued R2675, in favour for Flying Scotsman, that has a DCC Ready tooling. Probably an image of that one, that was in production for those few years, but I never realised Hornby discontinued the original Flying Scorsman locomotive, in the RailRoad range before. NWR-Gordon-4
@New lad on block I thought you can still get a Flying Scotsman, in the RailRoad range? The second version has been discontinued as well? Which is which Flying Scotsman, in your pictures?
Bulver
WD, the updated transfers transform the model, don't they? Well done, both models look great.Rod
96RAF
Put FS into the Hornby guide.com search and it will list all of them (individual and train set) and you can select each one and see the details, then go on to the next one and so one.
