Fishmanoz Posted April 5, 2017 Share Posted April 5, 2017 Unless of course if you have the Select which isn't capable of doing this. The number of pins is irrelevant in this by the way. CVs are the same for all decoders, except for the more exotic like sound decoders where a lot of the sound and more advanced functions are specific to the decoder. But basic running and lights CVs are the same, all defined by the NMRA specification for DCC. Also, not all decoders implement all of the possible CVs. In the basic Hornby R8249, there are only 9 CVs that you can write to (and none directly with the Select which can only change things via its simple menu of instructions).
