Jimbo1707820979
A little put out when our Tolgus Tin stopped running (on the analog track, not dicing with death on the DCC layout 😀 ). A quick examination revealed the motor spinning strongly and the worm gear like new but the cog badly battered from use.I tried prising off the driving wheels but no success. Maybe not meant to come off, who knows. So for want of a small plastic cog Tolgus Tin is consigned to stationary duty.  BTW should the plastic worm and cog be lubricated and if so, which lubricant would be advised ?/media/tinymce_upload/6f91d39fe36e52e0827931dcf0f8da94.JPG

walkingthedog
They're cheap to buy. Get a new one and swap the tops. Hornby have a wheel set for a couple of quid. Says it is an 0-4-0 set but there are 3 axles. Odd.

Jimbo1707820979
Thanks for your advice, Gentlemen. I can now decide what to do - get a clone or similar, but no great rush.
81F
 The little gear on the front wheel can sometimes be obtained on eBay and is relatively easy to fit (I've done it for a GWR version and a B12 so it muist be!). The really difficult bit at first is getting the quartering right when you put the wheels back on. I would also add that the missing chimney cap often comes up rom time to time usually labled as a lord of the isles or pannier tank one, as do the bloack plastic buffer heads  if you want to fix those as well. Forum-1211528
Â OK a TOLGUS TIN loco these are still made being the GWR 0-4-0 loco the worm drive and chimney can be obtained from Hornby or Peters spares as for the funnel i think Hornby has some on here so get it ok! Jimbo1707820979
Thanks very much 81F and Colin for those really practical bits of info. I have just checked the Tolgus and the chimney and buffers are completely intact so the photo must be of our 2nd Tolgus (heaven knows why) which runs perfectly. So a bit of swapping around is indicated.Anyway I will consider repairing the mechnically "dud" Tolgus now I know where to get the bits. 😉
Forum-1211528
 Jimbopuff thats fine although trying to find spares on here is a little bit of a Needle in a haystack it might be best calling Hornby on 01843233525 and explain to them what you have got and the spare parts you need then then they can supply them rather than digging around on here for ages trying to find everything you want as i was looking for replacement buffers for a Triang Jinty and i looked on here for ages trying to find them as i then called Hornby and they supplyed me with the replacement metal jinty buffers so they can be found! 😎
