Trumbone
Hi, I just pulled my half finished layout out after several months and for some reason my locomotives aren't running at all. I cleaned the wheels on several of my locomotives and they all seem to be stationary. When I turned the controller on, the engines seem to be running properly as there is a buzzing noise that occurs normally when they do. I also cleaned the tracks twice with one of the track rubbers but still there was no result. I am unsure of what to do.
mytrainz
Hi, a buzzing sound comes from the motor if you managed to connect the AC terminals from your controller to the track. It is possible that the rectifier in the transfor has stopped working.

walkingthedog
Get a PP3 battery and put the contacts against the wheels to see if the loco runs. If they do then it is a track or controller fault.
2e0dtoeric
A quick and cheap way of telling if there is any power getting to the tracks, if you don't have a multi-meter, is to get a car sidelight bulb, press one of the contacts on the base to each rail of the track, and turn up the controller knob. If the bulb lights up, you have power, and the fault is somewhere else.
