WilliamDavid
I have three tablets with the Railmaster app installed. The one I actually use (win10) has a 16GB memory and I am very pushed for free space. The app is using 267MB, whereas on my 32GB Lynx (win10) and 32GB HP (win7) the äpp is only using 160 and 167MB.Can any of you explain what is happening as Iam worried that I may run out of storage? Fishmanoz
WD, do you mean storage on your HDD/SSD rather than memory?
WilliamDavid
Yes, I thought they were the same thing.
Fishmanoz
Memory is what the processor uses to call up instructions and data in order to process programs. Storage is where programs and data are kept when not being used by the processor. Then to complicate matters, Windows sets aside an area of storage to be used as additional memory. But they are still quite separate.
hosh
Are you talking about the size of files on the HDD or are you looking in Task Manager to see how much memory an app is using when running?

hosh
Could it be as simple as Pro being installed on one, and plain gravy on the others, or is the Pro a seperate install exe? Are there many options when installing?
96RAF
RM is already installed full fat but Pro extras only enable upon insertion of a valid code.
Fireman_Ian
Perhaps the app showing 267mb has all the manuals in more than one language installed whereas the smaller rm folder was installed with only the english manual?
WilliamDavid
I uninstalled all to do with Railmaster, reinstalled from above, activated pro, updated resources and layout from a memorably stick.File size is now 135MB. A huge difference. What does yours read?
Nick_
The extra disk space could have been used up by:Log filesbackup filesprogram filesmanuals in various languages
WilliamDavid
Seems to be a plausible reason. Every time one closes RM it adds a bit to the file. I will monitor it to see how it changes.
