RB51
Hi Andy - CV1 is the decoder address. R-
Rog RJ
Better to use the "Address Read" facility. This will read 4 digit and 2 digit addresses. CV1 only contains 2 digit addresses. If a decoder has been given a 4 digit address then CV1 will still contain a 2 digit address which may be nothing like the 4 digit address which is stored in CVs 17 & 18 with a marker bit set in CV29 to indicate that a 4 digit address is to be used. So if a 4 digit address is in use, it's pointless reading CV1 at all.
Howbi
You could of course just reset the decoder which will then revert to an address of 03 but all other CVs will be reset to factory default also..........HB
Fishmanoz
Reset by writing 8 to CV8. you could of course do a simple test - read CV1 and try the value as the address. If it works, you're set, if not, it must be a long address. If long, then do your reset, much easier than mucking around figuring out CVs 17, 18 and 29.
