Digitrax DS52

Have just read in search forums procedure for addressing Digitrax DS64, could not find any information relating to Digitrax DS52.

Could anyone inform me of correct procedure addressing  for  a DS52? , using E LInk with Railmaster.

Thank you for any assistance.

They are both program/run mode accessory decoders and are very similar to program. The only difference is the 64 has a button to press to get it into program mode while the 52 has a jumper to close.  Best to go to the Digitrax site and download the instruction sheet, very simple and easy to follow.

The only involvement RM has in setting up this type of decoder (program mode) is to throw the appropriate point when you have the decoder in program mode.

As Fishy says above, the DS52 is very similar to the DS64 in as much as they are both 'self learning' decoders. In other words you do not use the 'Accessory Decoder' configuration window in RailMaster to program them. The Digitrax instructions are pasted below. I see a slight issue with them. The instructions say you should operate your point using the address you want to program within 16 seconds of powering up the decoder. With RailMaster and eLink this may be difficult to achieve due to boot times etc. However the Digitrax instructions also state that with the decoder link in the program position and if no operate command is received within 16 seconds of being powered up, then the decoder resorts to configuring itself with the next sequential address. Therefore if the factory default is addresses 1 & 2, the decoder would auto address itself to addresses 3 & 4. See yellow highlight in pasted extract below.

.

Or presumably whatever are the next sequential addresses from those currently in the decoder. So if currently (for example) 7 & 8, the decoder will auto configure to addresses 9 & 10 - useful if trying to configure more than 2 Digitrax DS2s as you would continue connecting and disconnecting power until the addresses you want are reached.

.

An alternative, might be to temporarily run your track connection wires through a mechanical electrical on/off switch. That way you could have RailMaster and eLink fully booted up and functional, then close the on/off switch to connect power to the track and the Digitrax DS2. You should then be easily able to send the appropriate operate commands within 16 seconds from RailMaster. Then use the on/off switch again to disconnect track power to complete the program process as documented below.

.

PS - In the instructions, the reference to 'Throttle' is an Americanism for what we would call the 'Controller'.

EDIT: For anybody who needs them. My step by step guide for configuring the DS64 can be found here.
