benson132
Having failed at Krois couplers have gone back to basics. In the process of making the Dingham couplings (fiddly) but want to know if anyone has tried the Dingham electomagnets controlled by the uncoupling feature in Railmaster - its a points "motor" that normally is attached to an uncouupling ramp. My idea is to use the "switch" in Railmaster and a port in the accessory controllers to turn the digham electomagnet on or off . any feedback appreciated
Chrissaf
I can't comment on the Digham electromagnet in particular, but electromagnetic uncouplers in general tend to have very low DC resistance coils and require a significant amount of current. The Hornby R8247 Accessory Decoder when the ports are configured to 'always on' have a maximum current supply capacity of about 200mA..You may need to use the decoder port to operate a relay, and then use the relay contacts to operate the uncoupler via a separate suitably sized (current / voltage capacity) power supply unit.
