RocknRoll
Can you tell me please, should a DCC Bus Wire be a continuous loop or split and should the track, that the droppers connect to, also be split? Thank you, Chris.
Chrissaf
You're opening a whole can of worms debate that has been discussed many times before on the forum. Each method has fans and each method has knockers. It is six of one and half dozen of the other. For relatively small layouts (domestic sized) then it probably really doesn't matter one way or the other. My personal choice, and it is purely a personal choice that others here will disagree with and say isn't necessary, is that I'm in the split both bus & track camp and I fit terminating snubbers to the ends of the split bus..My original layout was a continuous loop both for the bus and the track. I had issues with short circuits corrupting DCC decoders. I then split the bus and track and fitted terminating snubbers to the bus (this was 3 years ago) and I have not had a single decoder issue as a result of a short circuit since. But to be fair, that was probably more to do with the addition of the snubbers than anything else..Note that my layout track is also Peco Electrofrog and not Hornby.
