Class421
i've decided to make the jump and convert to DCC. I've just carried out the stall test to see what the max current draw would be and some of the results have surprised me a little. My old ringfield powered 47, 43 and 110 drew from 0.6-0.7A, so i take it the standard Hornby decoder would be sufficient. My new class 50 however drew 1.32A, which i thought was rather high. Can anyone else confirm if it is normal for the super detailed class 50's to draw this much current. Also, I expected my Lima class 73 (with that awful motor!) to draw a high current, but it only drew 0.7A. Again, is this normal for these old Lima models? Final question!, I've also got a Triang Battle of Britain (X04 motor) which drew 1.42A, very close to the Sapphire decoders max, would it be alright to install this decoder, being so close to the max current rating. Sorry for being long-winded and for all the questions, I just want to make sure all it good!
