Rog RJ
A TTS decoder is a type of DCC decoder sold by Hornby that is able to produce sounds which you can hear through a small loudspeaker. Ordinary DCC decoders don't produce sounds. There are other makers of sound decoders such as ESU and Zimo.

Chrissaf
DCC stands for Digital Command Control and is a generic term for a digitally controlled layout. It is not a product in its own right. Decoders are DCC devices, as are Digital Controllers..TTS stands for Twin Track Sound and is a type of DCC decoder propriety to Hornby. Only Hornby make TTS decoders..For clarity you do not need both a non Sound DCC decoder and a Sound TTS decoder in the same loco. Only one OR the other. Both types of decoder have motor control built in as part of the decoder.
