DCC Acceleration / Deceleration

CV3 and 4 control these characteristics on most if not all decoders. The higher the set value the slower the loco will respond. Set to zero and stop/start will be abrupt.

Some decoders such as TTS need a set value of 15 to function correctly. Value 5 is the normal default

The usual way to reset a decoder to its default settings, including address back to 03, is to write 8 to CV8. But if you are using the Select, it can’t do that and you will just have to look at the decoder brochure for its default values and reset to those, just as Rob has suggested for CVs 3 and 4 for accel and decel.

Just new to the DCC world and wondering if someone can assist me on the topic of acceleration and deceleration.  I'm OK with the programming side of things but if I want to cancel or change the preprogramed setting how is that achieved?
