Joining sets.

Hi Alison - welcome to the forum.

Yes. Probably. If they are new sets (or sets made in the past 5 years) definitely. New and recent sets are all the 'Scalextric Sport' system. If you are joining two sets, just use one powerbase. You will probably need to use your imagination to put all the pieces together, but that's half the fun of Scalextric.

If they are used sets, you should probably be okay as they are most likely to be Sport track. However, it's worth knowing that there are three different Scalextric 1/32 track systems that have been made in the past 25 years. The Scalextric 'Classic' track was made for almost 40 years and was replaced by Sport in 2001. The entry-level 'Start' system was introduced alongside Sport in 2010 and wasn't a great success, but there are still some used Start sets floating around. Adapters from Sport to Classic and from Sport to Start are available - but it's always easiest to stick to one type of track and Sport is the most sensible. Sport is also compatible with all the Scalextric ARC powerbases and Scalextric Digital track pieces and accessories.

I hope that helps!
