Hi Guys I got a Class 153 DMU as a Present and was wondering if I should of got the Yellow end valence at the front. looks like it fits in to the NEM coupling socket. The pic on here shows it with them https://www.hornby.com/shop/locomotives/dcc-fitted-locomotives/r2759x-regional-railways-diesel-class-153-dcc-fitted/

If anyone as one could you let me know if you have got them with yours.

Thanks in advance guys

Hi Pete007,

Whenever I've seen the 153s in shops the one in Regional Railways livery never seems to have the ploughs on the front. I've got two Northern Rail ones and both came with ploughs, however this particular unit might not have had them fitted.

This image shows it without them fitted: http://www.allsortsmodelshop.co.uk/WebRoot/BT2/Shops/BT3935/4BED/9E0C/11FB/3770/24D7/0A0A/33E9/417C/r2759.jpg Some of the Hornby images aren't 100% accurate and are usually just 'illustrating' the model. When the new

Grand Central power cars were advertised, they were done so using a Photoshopped image of the old power, which also had no front buffers!

NormyTerrier is quite correct. 153303/52303 was NOT fitted with miniature snowploughs at the time it carried Regional Railways livery although I do not know the present situation. Personally, I think it looks better with them fitted so I bought a pair

from East Kent Models and retrofitted them.

YES they are snow ploughs.

The reason why the Regional Railways versions are not fitted with snow ploughs is that when they were first introduced they were not fitted with snow PLOUGHS.

Hi all, DMU stands for Diesel Multiple Unit. A class 153 is a single car, not multiple, so therefor its simply a Class 153, or perhaps a Class 153 Unit!!! I suppose if 2 are couple together they still wouldnt be a DMU, but 2, or a pair of Class 153s!!!

They are snow ploughs .

When delivered to Britiah Rail in Regional Railway days they were not fitted with snow ploughs. It was only later they were fitted with snow PLOUGHS

That is correct but they are sometimes run with a pair of 142 units to make up 3 cars. Currently in operation on the Paignton to Exmouth route.
