Renning
I got separately "Lord of the Isles" loco (amazing runner Triang R 354 running number 3046) and tender (Triang R 37, reads "Great Western") Lining color is the same, green is lightly different but acceptable. The real difference is a glossy loco and a mat tender. I would like to apply a varnish. Which one would be the best? Thanks in advance.Jean. Brightstar
You could try a water=based lacquer used as a top coat on cars with metallic type paints.
walkingthedog
Oops!I use Humbrol varnish (always a new tin) and apply it with a wide flat good quality brush (new brush as well if possible). Unless you have access to an air-brush.
Postman Prat
I would use Matt but not fully stirred. With a new tin normally gives a nice semi-matt finish. However, varnish both of them - not so silly as it sounds, I knew someone who, when doing something similar to you, only applied the varnish to the loco!! (Or maybe the tender, Can't remember but you get my meaningwalkingthedog said:Oops!I use Humbrol varnish (always a new tin) and apply it with a wide flat good quality brush (new brush as well if possible). The son of Triangman
Why not just find a gloss tender to match the loco, they come up on the likes of eBay often enough. That way you aren't spoiling the models collectability
