Modelnut19
I have had an S15 R3329 from new (early 2016) and have not run it very much. Yesterday I was running it anti-clockwise round my 3rd radius oval layout and noticed that, on one 180 degree curve, it slowed noticeably before speeding up again on reaching the straight. However, running clockwise or tender first around the same curve was not a problem on this curve.Today, upon very close obeservation, I have found that the inside wheels of the front bogie are lifting on this curve as the engine enters the curve in the engine first, anti-clockwise direction. I have seen from an old post about a similar problem witha Castle that the cause could be a multitude of things: clashing with a cylinder block (not yet proven here), the back to back of the wheels not being correct (they seem to be okay), a track problem (I cannot see anything wrong and other engines are fine). It is more of an irritation really since the loco runs fine in the three other engine or tender first options.I may try adding a little weight on the bogie and I will keep looking for anything clashing but any other suggestions would be gratefully received. walkingthedog
Are the drain cocks fitted to the cylinders. If so they can foul the bogie.
Modelnut19
Thank you, yours is a good suggestion. Unfortunately I have not added the drain cocks but is I suspect the bogie is clipping something on the front of the body.
atom3624
How is the bogie mount / height? Many 'adjust' the bogie mounts to ensure wheels remain on track, or the reverse the bogie mount may be pushed up, lifting the wheels higher than the should be. Just a thought. Then also check the B2B - 14.5mm +/- a smidgen. Al.
