GWR 14xx Tank
Another problem with my Lima Class 09. The gearing is now no longer locked up, but the small gear does not always mesh with the gear attached onto the shaft behind the wheel it is supposed to engage with. This also results in a rather loud scraping noise, and results in the locomotive stopping momentarily as the gear disengages for a few turns. I have looked on YouTube and lots of Lima Class 09's make a noise like this, but the gears are the main priority, then the noise (if it is not supposed to happen). Could I be advised how to rectify this? Thanks in advance,14xx Tank
96RAF
Try shimming the gears into alignment using suitable washers. If you can’t find metal ones the correct size try a hole punch and some plasticard.
GWR 14xx Tank
How would I get to the gears to put a washer on, as the side plastic above the wheels is infront of the gears, making it difficult to access?
96RAF
You would have to find a service sheet to see how it came apart.
GWR 14xx Tank
I was unable to find a service sheet, and needed to take it apart ready for the washer(s) to go on. Seems like the small gear that meshes with the gear on the back of the wheel can be prised from it's shaft when the armature is removed. Going to fit the washer on today. 14xx Tank
