TheManCave
I love the look of single wheelers there's something charming and just raw about them. And though it's great to see the Dean single again I hope that the caladonian will come back in its blue at some point too. What I would love more than anything is to see the Stirling Singles in the hornby range I may be wrong but I don't ever recall seeing them apart from Rapido (and they are silly money). Yes I know Thomas and friends Emily is based on these majestic machines but if i recall the version released was more the Dean loco rather than the Sterling. It would also be amazing to have longer wheel based 4 wheel coaches rather like the ratio kits... Unfortunately I guess there are a number of people like myself who struggle with kits ( I have awful hand shake due to nerve damage). I love little old industrial preservation lines like Tanfield where they have the coaches like these. Be nice not to have to kit build to get the look. LCDR
Check out Hattons website, they are proposing a series of long wheelbase four and six wheel coaches over the next few years, which will be available in a variety of liveries. One small problem is that Hatton's models will be arc roof profile and the GNR stock had eliptical roofs. The carriages at Tanfield include both arc roof and elipical roof versions. /media/tinymce_upload/044c4c336029ac9d2861f55fc31b5fd4.JPGArc roof NER carriage/media/tinymce_upload/2a413a62a0d0f3d6708ce9e5d6116eb2.JPGEliptical roof GNR carriageThe Stirling Single was I believe made and sold by Locomotion Models but sold out ages ago. Way back in the 1960s Kitmaster made a delightful plastic kit of one, unmotorised of course, but I have my one, still a lovely looking thing. LCDR
Single driver locomotives are elegant, unfortunately much like the real thing they lack adhesion and don't pull very well. Here is another of my favourites. /media/tinymce_upload/3b3884e5be59ac23b1d4c01ec702c1bc.JPGMidland Spinner at Tinsley Open Day 1980 Were you there?
