pendeenpete
Anybody tried putting a TTS decoder in one of these shunters, if the decoder fits maybe a sugar cube speaker or similar. Have ordered the loco , if it runs ok, maybe thinking of giving it a try.
96RAF
Which TTS decoder will you use to replicate a Janus.
pendeenpete
Not trying to replicate the sound, just thought maybe an 08 would be sort of ok, the loco is quite basic, but cheap at £49 , bit of an impulse buy if I'm honest. A lot of owners have expensive and presumably accurate sound decoders, don't think it justifies that sort of outlay for me.A standard Hornby 8 pin is supposed to fit, think the TTS one is quite a bit larger, although never owned the standard one. 96RAF
I have always said there is room in the economy sound chip market for a generic diesel and steam loco to fill those gaps where a bespoke decoder is not available - e.g. 0-4-0s, smaller shunter diesels, etc.
