R610 v ST-203

Dear Forum

1. Are the Hornby R610 “Special short straight” or “quarter straight”, and the Peco ST-203 short straight like for like?

2. I am planning to use the formula shown in Hornby Track Plans Edition 14, in Layout 5/14, to get a point spurring off the end of a 4th radius curve. As my 4th radius horseshoe curves round in R8262, the fourth and final double curve is replaced by one R608 single 3rd curve, two R610 and a r/h point R8073 (in my case ST-240) the curve of which completes the horseshoe and enters the straight, but the straight of which juts out ahead to give a spur from the oval. Are R610 and ST-203 interchangeable in this instance?

3. Finally, I would like to incorporate a r/h curve point in place of the final R609 double 3rd radius curve on the inner of my two lines, so the point spurs inside the oval to start a passing loop. Nowhere can I find the settrack configuration to put a curve point into a 3rd radius curve to spur onto the inside of the curve... can anyone help please? What are the necessary pieces to fit the point into the curve? (I can only find examples of the curved points being used to pass between the parallel curves, not to throw off the inside.)

Many thanks in advance for any guidance. I will endeavour to draw a diagram for ease. Not having a desktop/laptop computer, just a phone, the track planning softwares are little use to me.

Hello CJS11

Welcome to the Forum

To answer your Q.s

1. Yes - just had a look both ath the Hornby & Peco Track section & it does look like as if they are both 'like for like'

2. I've also got Edition 14 of the Track Plans - Layout 5/14 is on P. 52 & if I understand this correctly - You want to replace the 2 R610 with a point just b4 it enters a Tunnel??? - Not sure how much space you have???

I've done this for you :-

3. I'm kinda a bit lost here - are you saying that you want a passing line behind the station???
