Skippa Roo
Hi All from downunder, hope you can please help me out.I've pre ordered the new Arc Pro Platinum GT set, and told probably not available here in Melbourne Australia till near end of year.....aaaaargh....long slow boat I spose from China?!Anyhow I want to get the right borders and barriers for the curved and straight tracks, and don't want to buy the wrong radius parts.Ideally I want the whole track with borders and barriers as I want to incorporate this new track into a ambitious mountain diorama...ambitious is the word!Would anyone know by looking at the diagram of this set what those curve radius's are and if you have the time how many and types I would need to order? Thanks heaps in advance. Andy P.
All sets come with either 45° and/or 90° R2 radius curves. They can have half, full and "super long" straights. For half starights there are full width borders. For full straights there are "lead in/out" borders, you have to double up half traicht if you want the full width.Super long straights are full length plus the length of the cross ocer straight which is slightly longer than a half straight. Most people don't bother with broders on straights except right where they either enter or exist a curve. There are 22.5° and 45° raduis 2 borders for inside and outside with a guardrail. You can get 90° R2 grey borders with a slot for a guardrail from a "360° drift" or "crash and bash" set. You can add guardrails into the slots. The current set of broaders are a sand color with a red/white curb. There are also older black ones with a red/white curb...As for how much of which you need: Try to find a high resolution picture of the set and look for a diagram on the side. They usually show the standard layouts. Look for little lines indicating the sections of track and that should tell you what is in the track. You can also download the latest ARC App and check the catalog there. It should say what track is in the set. It might not have been added yet though.Good luck!
gorp
An optimistic oz dweller, who can hardly wait to get started.Well since you are planning ahead for the potentially end of year arrival of the biggest best digital set scaly will the sell, like to suggest something to help with the preparation. Why wait until set finally arrives and then face the confusion of setting it all up and operating it without any experience, unless you want to join the masses that arrive here at the end of the year asking questions of who, what ,why and how , frustratedly waiting for answers. So suggesting you buy a 24hr lemans digital set now.It is the smallest available but it comes with the upgraded arc pro , that you will probably receive with new set.All the parts in this basic set can be useful for your future set and if you want to unload your second upgraded arc pro power base, there will probably be plenty of buyers. You will learn how digital works and how to use the app properly. And most of all, you will be able to ask questions now , when things slow down up north in summer when living is easy, thus getting plently of attention that will prepare you for your future digital experience. Skippa Roo
Thanks Andy and Gorp for your quick replies i really appreciate that!Andy, I wil check out your suggestion on the Arc app, though given there is not much official info re track specs not sure if it will be listed yet? Maybe I'll just take a punt and order a selection of borders and barriers working on the premise you can never have enough track and bits to go with it!Gorp, I did consider the 24 Le Mans set, but whilst the Chief Financial Controller ( the Mrs ), gave me the okay for the Platinum set, and it works in for completion of long overdue house renovations I've been dragging my arse on, i'd be a muppet not to wait for the the one with all the bells and whistles just in case a different priority came along! And then there's Christmas and Birthday for the extension packs....Thanks Guys
