Check the motor brushes and springs and add some sparse lubrication. It might also be the pickups or wheels, after a couple of circuits any oxide that has formed on the pickups or wheels, which is a great insulator,  gets cleaned off a bit. I don't know if this has the dreaded traction tyres, check that they are not slipping, again, once they warm up they seem to run better.
