Lowey
My class 66 keeps derailing on my points, all other loco's are fine.Would changing the wheels solve the problem?
STG
You need to reset the back-to-back wheel gauge (using a tool), not necessarily the wheels. Wheels from manufactures do not necessarily have the gauge correct
Howbi
First thing to try is to pin down the centre of the point because many have found the centre section to be slightly curved upwards..........HB/media/tinymce_upload/dd37f74216a930e4be14ebca95af814a.png
ColinB
I have had a lot of trouble with locos derailing at points. On my old ones it is the back to back wheel spacing. With the newer ones it is because the point is not level, has got distorted ( actually the base was bent) or there is an issue with the track entering or leaving the point. Leveling seems to be the biggest issue.
2e0dtoeric
Lowey hasn't said which manufacturer his 66 is, or which radius point he is using.Bachmann 66's don't like 'standard' points, the bogeys can't turn far enough without getting stuck on the frames. 96RAF
Agreed - I had a derail problem at the top of a hill. Going ahead is sometimes the problem, but going to the diverging track was never a problem. The offending point has been pinned down as suggested and only the odd loco trips up here, so that will be getting the B2B inspection.Reposted to put all the previous typos right.
