Factory reset hornby select

Recently purchased the mixed treight set.
1) The select controller will not do a factory reset. (Yes read page 19) pressing both direction butons and the stop button tegether.
2) with train running in 1 direction i change the direction without issue but will not change direction back again without turning the controller off then back on again.

On start up it reads 20 30 03

You have got firmware 2.0.

The reset procedure on Page 19 is for Selects below version 1.6

Version 1.6 & version 2.0 has a slightly modified reset procedure documented in the version 1.6 Addendum manual.

I strongly recommend that in the new reset procedure you choose the 'disable' analogue support option in 'Step 4'. Particularly in light of the second issue you are querying.

The set should have included the 1.6 manual addendum along with the normal 'full' manual, but if it didn't it is downloadable from here. Other operational things are different using the Select with version 1.6 & version 2.0 firmware. The addendum manual takes precedence over the full manual in those addendum documented areas.
