Chrissaf
Hello guys, I have an old model tank engine from my childhood in the 60's which I would really like to restore to it's former glory. The model in question is a R355 0-4-0 industrial tank engine named "Nellie", she is blue wth white linings and is number 7.As it was he first model train bought for me as a child, she has a great sentimental value to me. I have stripped down and cleaned the motor and she is running fine but unfortunately the bodywork needs some attention.I have never done any kind of restoration work before and would appreciate any advice on the best way to repaint the body and where I can obtain the lining and number details. I have managed to obtain the name transfer on e-bay but that is all I have at the moment.Any help or advice on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Chrissaf
Hello guys, I recently re-discovered my old model railway from my childhood while clearing out storage space during the current situation we are in and this has made me want to build a permanent layout in my now converted loft space. One of my old models is a blue tank engine named Nellie, this was the very first engine bought for me as a child and has a lot of sentimental value. I have stripped down and cleaned her motor and she is running fine but unfortunately her body work needs some attention.I have managed to obtain new name transfers for her but I will also need to repaint the body.I would greatly appreciate any help and advice on the best paint type and match for her and where I can get the white lining and number 7 transfers from, as I would really like to restore her to her former glory, something I have never attempted before.I have attached an image of a similar engine from that period. Many thanks for any help or advice you can offer. Rana Temporia
There used to be someone who sold complete side stick-on 'restoration' packs for these locos with all the lining etc. The only items I know of that are available at the moment are the names, which you already have. If you want to restore the lining you'll need to either use some commercial general white model lining or use a bow-pen, lining pen or one of the paint pens that are now available in some craft stores. I think the original was heat-printed so no transfers were ever available.
96RAF
NeilYour second post on this subject moved from Forum Feedback Area as that is for matters associated with the running of the website and forum, not questions about individual models. As you can see your inital post here and your subsequent post are essentially the same question. Once you have acknowledged this post your duplicate question will be removed.
