Hornby Turntable motor slows and stops

Hi

Before disconecting and moving my Hornby turntable, this worked fine, with no problems,  After relocating the turntable onto a new layout, this is now havng motor problems with the motor slowing and stopping after a few seconds.  I have checked the wiring, and even connected the motor directly to the transformer to troubleshoot the issue....result is the motor slows and stops after a few seconds. 

I have taken the motor out of the housing - ran this separately from turntable, cleaned the cogs and the results are the same

Any ideas would be useful
