Class 31 Problems

Has anyone else had issues with R3661 the Class 31 without the head code box on the roof D5509. 
No detail pack was included in the pack. Unfortunately for this particular model the detail pack contained the white circular discs that go over the LED lights at the front. The supplier is trying to source a replacement for me; however, it's not looking too good so I will unfortunately have to return the model and get my money back.

Do I try again or just give Hornby a wide birth. Their quality standards and customer service levels seem to be falling way behind their main competitors at the moment. Heljan were the bad boys a year or so ago now it looks as though Hornby have decided to take up the mantle and become the bad boys in town.

The previous Hornby model I bought brand new was the Terrier Stepney. This was returned because there were blobs of black paint on the boiler. I tried again and the second one arrived with a broken coupling. At what point do you give up and stop using Hornby products. Sad as they are a well established British Institution. But there again so was British Leyland, Marks and Spencers and Debenhams.

I've just picked up the BR Blue skinhead class 31. The instructions show where and how to apply the indicator discs (although I'm guessing they may be generic instructions?) and there are location holes on the front end for the discs, so I'm wondering if these have not been included in error? I've emailed Hornby to see what the score is. 

 

Did you get a response at all ?

 

Yes I sent them an email and a few days later received a detailing pack that contained headcode discs. Great service from Hornby.
