Hornby X9343SClass A4 tender

porte

Recommended Posts

There are quite a lot of different variants of the Hornby A4 - not simply talking about with /w'out side valance / splashers over the drivers either.

Is it Railroad / Super Detail quality?

Looking quickly at photos, I see wires to the tender, so it's probably a Super Detail one with the little white plug socket.

Check clearly with the relevant Hornby Service Sheet which specific tender is required - then you need to clarify if it's with or without the corridor, early or late BR crest.

Keep an eye on Ebay - some will pop up from time to time - many will try and charge more than they're probably worth, so buyer beware - they'll simply say that people buy them, so that's what they're worth!

What's wrong with the original?

If it came without, perhaps the seller has what remains of the original, and parts can be located to complete, without needing a full tender. Peters Spares and Ebay have plenty of spares.

Try also AC Models, Peters Spares, and perhaps others like Hattons, Colletts, etc may 'have something out back in a box' ... always worth a try.

The tender chassis frame that NMS is offering is not quite the same as X9343S as it has no provision for sound.  Also it is just the frame, not the complete assembly that porte is seeking, but that may be virtually impossible to obtain unless someone is splitting apart a complete loco as it is not an official Hornby replacement 'part'.  It is worth mentioning that X6212 is Hornby's code for the R2910 tender chassis frame so further clarification as to what porte actually needs/is looking for would be welcome.

You seem to have SHOUTED a new thread on the same topic.

Keep the same one going to avoid confusion.

If something is no longer produced, you generally will not be able to order it directly from Hornby - and never really is the case.

Best thing to do is to keep your eyes peeled on Ebay, and keep in touch with the others previously mentioned.

Many things are difficult to encounter, but generally they're never impossible.
