Bluehornby14
HornbyCan we have signals with automatic detection(When the train goes past the signal) and 3 aspect signals which co-ordinate with each other. Thanks
LCDR
Agree 100%. Why do the manufacturers persist with two aspect signals when three aspects are the norm. I would envisage a basic straight post three aspect signal, but with 'plug and play' junction indicator modules that clip on to the top and get their supply from contacts in the clip.I like the idea of a automatic function. By fitting some kind of time delay and an insulated stretch of track on the approach to the signal an automatic train stop could be incorporated. The train could sequence itself so that when it passes a green or yellow signal it is detected and a timer returns the signal to red then 20 seconds later it goes to yellow, and 20 seconds after that goes to green. When the red aspect is displayed the approach track is dead. Linked to DCC and to a train control programme it has extensive possibilities. Bulleidboy
There is a regular ad.in Railway Modeller for Heathcote Electronics. They use an infra red system for changing colour light signals, at a not unreasonable price. Hornby may feel that if a number of items produced by smaller companies work well, is it worth duplicating? Just a thought.
