Trogster
Dear All, I need to replace the driving wheel set on my Harry Potter Hogwarts Express as the driving cog has teeth missing. Does anyone please know - do I need the x8745, the x6161, or the x8560 as a replacement? Or something else? Many thanks and all best wishes. Going Spare
It depends upon which version of the loco you have. Do you know its, or the set it is part of, catalogue Rxxxx number? That number should enable you to look up the relevant Service Sheet (downloadable via the 'Help & Advice' menu) which will then give you the part/pack number. Trogster
Thank you Going Spare. I did what you suggested and there is no Service Sheet for the Hogwarts Express specifically, just a note the type of train that it's based on which gave me the three options listed for driving wheel sets. With all best wishes, Tim.
Going Spare
Hornby's Hogwarts loco is a Castle class. There is not a service sheet specifically for Hogwarts. If you know the R-number, you may be able to find the correct service sheet. If not, you will have to try to identify your loco by comparing its chassis with the designs shown on the Castle class service sheets to identify your model and thence the part number for the wheelsets pack. The type of motor fitted is one pointer, for example. Beware: service sheet 213 covers both Castle and County class locos, X8560 being wheelsets for the County, X8745 for the Castle.
