I wonder if anyone has fixed this issue:

I have a F1 c2676d Ferrari.  Running on digital it over heats after only 2 or 3 minutes.

Symptom is that after a couple of minutes use it hesitates before accelerating, this lag gets worse until there is a lag of about 1/2 second to throttle position, this lag increases to over 2 seconds.  In this short time the motor and chip get too hot to touch.

Seems to be the slim can (FF?) motor over heats, but it might be the chip as the chip is wedged against the motor can.  This is really annoying as the car comes fitted with the F1 chip from the factory so it should work.

The car is new, although it's sat on a shelf for about 15 years.

Running the car with the body off doubles the time until it gets unusable. So cooling helps but not enough to run the car.

So I have ordered a new motor in case it's that which is broken. But I was thinking of adding a tiney cooling fan into the space in the right hand side pod.

Has anyone found a fan small enough to fit into an F1 slot car?  Or another fix?

Thank you.

You won't really be able to fit a fan in there I think.

If you are 100% sure the motor can turn freely (not bindin on any gears etc.) and it is well lubricated I seriously think there is a problem with the motor and you should replace it.

You could try removing plastic as much as possible around the motor to get more air to it and there are such things as heat sinks  that could help but sound like maybe something ele is wrong.

Thanks for the advice.  I have given up on finding a fan.

So, I changed the motor with a new one.  Not quite so bad but still the same problem.

Doesn’t do it at all on analogue, the new motor gets warm/hot, but not as hot and it can be controlled as you’d expect.  I think it’s the way that the digital system constantly controls the motor that makes it over heat.  I think that type of motor getting no coasting time, in a confined space, just gets too hot.

Taking the body top off didn’t help so I can’t open it to air any more than that.  I think this this shouldn’t have been a digital car in that set up.  Shame, as when it works it’s really good.

Had a similar problem back when first digital f1s came out but only with 1 car.

Sent it back to 132 slotcar.us to check out since Alan was doing repairs then for scaly usa.

He could find anything wrong with it but appeared that the chip was moved futher from motor and more tape  had been added between the two.

Still not happy with the faster smaller bike motor and could not control it until pbpro-sh allowed adjusting motor curve and  believe later that feature was found on the  advanced and arc pro with the app.

Decided to sell all my scaly f1s and just use the better performing indy dallara for open wheel racing after chipping them.

OK, thank you.  Sounds like it’s just what they do then.

Just got the digital Honda Earth car, which seems to have the same chassis etc. and that has the same problem, but not as bad and it takes longer for it to kick it, the electric install inside looks to be the same.  I have added some insulation and tape and tried to add a gap between the chip and the motor.  I’ll just have to use these cars for very short races!
