Australian model rail road Posted July 2, 2020 Share Posted July 2, 2020 I have 3 F midlander with XO4 motor there is a brown wire from the pickup which connects to a red wire into a small white device which goes to earth on the chassis the red wire goes to the left brush somewhere there is short perhaps the little white device has failed causing a short any ideas whould be of help many thanks in advance Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Ruffnut Thorston Posted July 2, 2020 Share Posted July 2, 2020 The white tube device is the interference suppression capacitor. You could take the ring terminal off of the fixing screw, making sure that it isn't in contact with the chassis, and see if that makes any difference. Also, check that the insulation sleeve on the brush spring is in position, and has not slipped back, allowing contact between the brush spring and brush on that side. Make sure that the pick ups are not touching the chassis block. Check that the insulated driving wheels, on the pick up side, are not touching the chassis block. Also, check that the traction magnet in the rear of the chassis block hasn't picked up a track pin, or other metallic piece, and that it bridging between the insulated wheels and the chassis block.
