Bachmann connector

I know this is a Hornby Forum, but does anyone know what 4 pin connector Bachmann use between the loco and tender. It is slightly bigger than the Hornby one, but is the same shape so I am assuming is made by the same manufacturer. I have contacted Bachmann about a new lead, but just in case I can't get one, I will buy a new plug and use the existing wires.

I had a search and could only come across replacement Hornby ones.

Best is to give Bachmann a call - they're actually VERY helpful, perhaps limited a little by COVID - generally easy to get fast resolutions to model railway problems, and have LOADS of spares.

Yes, contacted Bachmann a couple of days ago. I was waiting for their reply, it takes a bit longer since Covid. It was just in case they didn't have one. I suspect it is the same manufacturer as the one for Hornby, but like you I cannot find one on the web.

I suspect it is the same manufacturer as the one for Hornby,

.

The Hornby 4 way loco/tender connector is made by JST (Japan Solderless Terminals). Hornby also use JST connectors on some of their Diesel loco PCBs to plug & socket interface to the lighting sub-board assemblies.

.

JST produce an extremely wide range of connector product styles, types and sizes.

Thanks Chrissaf. I am fixing someone elses loco, it appears they didn't take your advice and use the tool or the screwdrivers. I checked on my Bachmann 4F loco and it appears they use the same on that model as well, so hopefully it is constant throughout the range.

As far as the Hornby JST connector is concerned. It is a JST SH With Protrusions Style Connector.

.

https://www.jst.co.uk/productSeries.php?pid=7918

.

Specifically the product code for the Hornby 4 way plug is:

SHR-04V-S-B [with protrusions type]

.

Note that the crimp contacts need to be purchased separately. The page linked above provides clickable links to the appropriate product data-sheets.

.

Crimp pins product code is:

SSH-003T-P0.2-H

.

https://uk.farnell.com/ sell these items, but the website JST product page is down at present so I can't provide working links.

Thanks Chrissaf, what I now need to do is take a Hornby one or one of those I got off EBay appart and see if the socket pins are the same. I might be lucky, I still have the plug body, so although fiddly, it would be a very cheap repair.
