Advice to hold the train track in place.

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have got the santa express on a unit. It justs fits on with the help of lego bases being turned upside down.

the train will go around but sometimes I knock the track and it will clip the wall going around or catch stuff near the track.

a good portion of the track is under lego, but a bit is flat against wood.

any advice would be great, thanks

Since you seem to have an unusual mixed material base to put your track on, then the normal nail with a track pin method, may not be suitable. I would suggest PVA glue. PVA dries clear (although white out of the container). PVA bonds can also be relatively easily broken if need be without any permanent damage to the track or base (although PVA will soak into wood and be more difficult to remove. It is after-all a glue formulated for wood joining). PVA can be softened to aid cleaning off plastic parts with warm to medium hot water.

.

I would also suggest that if by 'unit' you mean a piece of furniture, that you place a thin sheet of wood type material on top of the unit, then glue the track to that. A very thin piece of plywood for example or a sheet of hardboard. As long as it is well supported by the 'unit' so that it cannot bend or flex. The idea being, that you wouldn't want to be coating a furniture piece with glue of any description.
