Bicester Derry
Can anyone help me please? I am trying to programme the new Hornby Rocket which has been fitted with a Hornby decoder but when I try to programme it, Railmaster does not recognice the decoder (it is not even listed). This is not the first time this has happened - I gave up on the others which are now in the display cabinet - but I really want to get this beautiful model running. I have the latest version `1.73 downloaded. Any advice would be gratefully recieved by this IT idiot!
Chrissaf
Railmaster does not recognice the decoder (it is not even listed)..In what Railmaster screen does this comment relate to. The only screen where such a comment would be applicable is the 'CV Read/Writing' screen. All Hornby decoders are in the CV database, so if yours is not recognised ... something else is at play. Searching for Hornby locos using the R numbers in the 'Loco Settings' screen has got nothing to do with decoders unless the decoder is factory fitted to the model..Based upon your comment that your issue has happened more than once and the comment about decoders. Then that infers that you must be doing it wrong in some way..Are you placing the 'Rocket' on your 'Programming Track Piece' directly connected to your controller 'PROG A&B' output terminals?.To save asking a multitude of questions and then waiting for answers that generate even more questions requesting clarification..Read these tutorials on different aspects of adding Locos to Railmaster. Ignore any references in the tutorials relating to configuration of 'sounds'..At this stage, I would be suprised if the Rocket has been added to the Hornby database yet, so you may be best to follow the 'Manually adding a Loco' guidance if the Hornby Rocket R number is not recognised..Adding a loco from the database into RM (my post 3rd one down).http://www.hornby.com/uk-en/forum/loco-registration/?p=1.Using RM to change the address of an existing Locohttps://www.hornby.com/uk-en/forum/cant-change-loco-cv-address/.Using RM to read and write CVshttps://www.hornby.com/uk-en/forum/problem-with-tts-decoder/?p=1.Manually adding a Loco to the RM Database.https://www.hornby.com/uk-en/forum/r3459tts-decoder-not-recognized-23469/.Full description of the ‘Locomotive Settings’ screen in detail.https://www.hornby.com/uk-en/forum/changing-cruise-and-shunt-speeds/?p=1.TIP: As a newbie poster on the forum, just be aware that the 'Blue Button with the White Arrow' is not a 'Reply to this post' button. Ducky1
The Hornby decoder for the Rocket is a 6 pin 2 function R7150 which does not appear in the Rail master database yet. I have use the R8249 which has the same characteristics and seems to work ok. Ducky1
Chrissaf
The R7150 uses the R8249 PCB but terminated with a 6 pin connectorThe R7274 (same as X9659) uses the R8249 PCB but terminated with a 4 pin connector. Thus in RailMaster you can quite happily use the R8249 CV settings for any of the decoders above.
