R3484 Decoder - which one?

[Intercity Class 37]

Hi guys, I'm trying to find out what DCC decoder to put into my Class 08 shunter, Hornby catalouge number R3484. I'm interested in going DCC with sound (not TTS) but if that's not doable or cost effective, then regular DCC will have to do.

I think the big issue with sound decoders is finding the room in this sort of loco. It is probably a bit late now, but I would be tempted to buy one with TTS already fitted. I checked the YouChoos page and Zimo do one, it even explains on the website how to fit it.

This is a Railroad class 08 into which I fitted an 8 pin socket sitting on sticky pads then the TTS sound decoder fits comfortably on top of the motor.  A good size 'sugar cube' speaker is affixed behind the loco's radiator.......any other sound decoder of similar size or smaller would fit just the same.........not a difficult installation............HB

The OP's loco is not the Railroad version.

 

That R number is the "super detail" loco.

 

A totally different chassis, with more space constraints.
