helpmaboab
Hello everyone,Some advice please. My Hornby Virgin shunter goes from slow through to fast perfectly in reverse, but when in forward mode stops starts until it reaches a high speed. Any ideas why okay in reverse but not in forward mode.
atom3624
I would suggest you look at the pick-ups which contact the wheels. If they are the blade type 'wipers' which gently scrape against the insides of the wheels, they may be out of shape, and some very gentle 'persuasion' may be required. Al. GWR 14xx Tank
Check the pickup wipers like @atom3624 mentioned, are they in the correct position? Do they move out of alignment when going in forwards direction? Are the locomotive's wheels clean? Try a clean of the brushes and commutator on the motor - this generally improves performance by a lot. Only the other month I had a Lima Class 09 that barely moved, then a quick clean of the brushes and commutator left it in perfect operational status (apart from the fact that it had the usual Lima "roar" from the gears, but seeing as it is a diesel, I didn't bother to fix that!) Maybe just a check-over of the obvious things, for example is everything oiled / clean? Let us know how you get on,14xx Tank
