Hunting Percival Jet Provost T.3 - A02103 [1:72]

This was supposed be be a quick & dirty build to get me back in the swing of things but I was foiled by the 'day-glo' orange decals again. Has anyone successfully applied these??? This meant I had to change from the FTS1 scheme to the FTS2 scheme.

This wasn't so bad as the wings were already the correct colour, just the fuselage needed repainting red on the bottom half and white on the top (along with a few other bits and pieces).

This was totally brush painted with Humbrol enamel paints with several coats of clear for a glossy finish once the multitude of decals and stencils were applied. All in all it took ages to complete and is a bit rough and ready but it'll do me.

Your Jet Provost looks good Jeff, especially with a change of direction on the colours mid-build. I have done the dayglo orange decals with only minor troubles and will try and post an image?

I have another 2 planned in the near, the red and white like yours and the wrap around Grey/Green option.

The day-glo orange decals seemed quite thick. I tried warm water and DecalFix but that just seemed to make it worse as they became brittle and flakey.

A nice build. I have done this model with both the Red/White/Grey and Dayglo schemes.

The orange decals are difficult. I had to use warm water, Micro Set and Micro Sol and quite a bit of finger pressure on the leading edge wraparounds. However once these set the rest went on fairly easily, though some of the tip tank markings haven't completely settled over the surface detail.

The two tone grey scheme is tempting.

Nice build. I put one of these together in the same scheme. I've spent many days fishing in Yorkshire on the River Swale. One constant distraction was having trainee pilots buzzing around overhead. I probably missed a lot of fish due to them. Happy memories though!

That's a very nice result. I'm just getting back in to modelling and one of the things on my 'to do' list is a pair of Red Pelicans to represent the aircraft that accidentally touched wing-tip tanks during a training sortie. No serious damage was done, they simply returned to base immediately and had some explaining to do(!), but I heard the story from the instructor involved and intend to replicate it in 1/72 some day!
