81F
Having abandonned my attempt to fit a Black 5 TTS chip to the Railroad Class 5, I fitted it to my Railroad 4901 Adderly Hall. At first all seemed fine (just the "wrong" whistle sound for a GWR Hall) but the sycronisation of the sound with the wheel movement was every bit as good as my TTS supplied 4935 Ketley Hall. However, when I grouped them into a double header, neither whistles word work - is this usual? Secondly I disolved the double header and all seemed OK with whistles working. I then switched off the power and left them overnight. The following day I attempted to move 4091 but the loco would not move. On turning up the power the Hiss got louder (as it did on 4935) but he wheels did not turn and the his died back down. I attempted to reset the chip CV8 to 8) but still the same. I then unplugged the chip and tried the loco with a gaugemaster 8 pin chip and it moved. As removing the speaker would have meant a little more work I thought I'd re test the TTS chip in 4901 and all worked fine! Does anyone know what might have happened (initially I suspected the wiring between the DCC socket and loco but that seems to have been ruled out as I would have expected and break to remain broken.. 96RAF
I would suggest the consist did not dissolve correctly, but a decoder reset should have resolved that if indeed the reset worked first time. Often it can take two or three goes to make them take.
